Fireflies

There have been millions of fireflies again this summer. The kids tried to catch some recently.

Toad Catching

B:

One day we found toads in a window well by the side our porch.

This is Tucker holding a toad. The toads were baby baby baby toads.

That is a toad on the cement pad. We think they are American toads.

That's me, I think, just holding a toad, but I'm very careful with the toad. So you can't see the toad.

That is a toad in a container that Neave is holding. And Neave put grass in it. Puuh.

technical difficulties

My computer quit, and until we get the new one up and running, you'll have to be content with this photo, an example of the ridiculous things that this new computer can do.

checking for cats

Someone stopped in our yard to tell us there was a cat on a telephone pole just down the road. Neave wanted to see it, so we walked down. She brought her binoculars for a better view. It was gone by the time we got there.

Nerf War

T:

My friends came over and they brought their nerf guns.  We had a giant nerf war.  I carried as many as I could hold.  I had sixteen nerf guns.

I had a lot of clips, and a lot of bullets.

Frog Catchers

N:

I'm watching a movie. Everybody else is doing a canoeing trip. So me and Cullen had a sleep-over. We watched a movie and ate pizza.

We watched Brave.

That night, we caught a toad. And fireflies. We didn't feed the fireflies to the toad.

Pigs

B:

We got new pigs. The one with black spots over her brown spot is Saddle, Tucker's pig. The one that has brown over it is mine. The one that's really dark is Cullen's. The light brown one is Neave's.

That's Fred. That's Neave's pig. Cullen's pig is Ormy. Mine is Chrysanthemum.

This is Tucker and the pigs. The pigs eat anything

This is Cullen and Neave, covered in mud.

This is Neave and Cullen in with the pigs getting all dirty.

My mom is taking a picture of Neave, all covered in dirt. And Neave's covering her face.

My cherry tree

B:

This is my cherry tree. It had a cherry on it. It's the first cherry that I had on my cherry tree.

This is me and my cherry.

This is my first cherry, and I got to eat it on July Wednesday.

This is me eating the cherry. It tasted good, but it was sour.

That's the pit of the cherry.

stolen camera

Both of our digital cameras were missing for a while.  I found one.  I'm sure the photos on the other will be just as good.  When I find it.

photo booth

T:

We went to my mom's cousin David's wedding.  They had a photo booth there.  It was lots of fun.  We took tons of pictures.

I took some of just myself.  By some, I mean a lot.

Here's some of my mom and my sister and her friend who called her Friend.  When she tried to walk away, she would say, "Don't leave, Friend, don't leave!"

This is some of my cousin, my dad, and Neave.  They took lots of funny photos.

This is of my sister, my cousin and my other cousin.

This is of Stacy, and Brinda, and my two cousins. The photo was awesome.

quack quack

N:

Walk walk side of the road.  Walk walk across the road.

My daddy found a duck on the side of the road.  A little duckling.  The duckling was quiet when we first saw it.  Once we put it under a chicken, it was totally gone.

Noah, our dog, was smelling it.  It smelled like a turkey, I think. He's a *biiiig* doggie.  My dad kept the duck for as long as he could.

This is hen that we put the duckling under.

Camp Masala fun

B:

In June we went to Camp Masala.  It's an Indian camp and this is a group picture.

There's Rupa (little girl), and then me and Theresa and Kyla and another counselor.  And we were playing cricket.

This is the Red Pandas. Red Pandas is the youngest group of kids. They were playing cricket.

This is me and Rupa dancing and everybody else dancing. Rupa is an Indian girl. She lives in where Keith and Paulette live. North Dakota. Keith and Paulette are Cullen's grandma and grandpa.

This is me, Rupa, Grace, Nivya, and Theresa. These are my friends.

That's Neave, and she's in the Red Pandas, drawing a picture of an Indian god.

Chess

T:

I was playing chess with Brinda.  I like to play chess a lot.  We played six games right in a row.

And I won 'em all.

My favorite piece is the knight.  I like it because it moves into positions that are easy to get other pieces trapped in.  And it's hard to follow.  Very hard to follow.

Coo-da

N:

These are our new turkeys. Tucker and Cullen are looking at them.

Elo and Brinda and Megan are looking at them now. Elo laughed whenever she heard them.  They cheeped louder than Elo laughed.

There's the turkeys eating their food. I feed them every day.

There is me looking at the turkeys.  I am looking at the camera instead of the turkeys. I like the turkeys.  They're noisy and loud. They like weeds. I pick a whole handful of weeds for them every day, and they eat them by the time I come back, every other morning.  The end.
